Biography

A little bit about Jess....

I grew up in Laredo TX and attended Angelo State University (Go RAMS!) where I graduated with a degree in Biology and Education. I returned back home after graduation, and taught science for 7 adventurous years at United South Middle School. Needing a change of scenery, I moved to San Antonio in 2001 to begin an exciting career shift as an instructional technology specialist with North East ISD. Inspired by how technology was able to take my science lessons to another plateau, I worked closely with teachers and students integrating probe ware and other science software into their TEKS.  I enjoyed working with other content areas and collaborating with the other curriculum specialists in designing technology based lessons.

Coco our fur baby
Somewhere in the midst of all this, I met my husband, Shane, who is a nouveau Texan from Vancouver, Canada. We have been married almost 9 years and have three daughters, Brooke (7), Sierra (5), and Reese (3). Life with three girls, including a spoiled female Schnauzer = loud and dramatic....but always fun! In 2008, I stepped back from the workforce to stay at home with our growing family and cherished a wonderful 6 years watching our girls.

In the blink of an eye, I was diving back in! In April of 2014, I accepted a position as a technology facilitator with Comal ISD at the Canyon Lake feeder pattern, and am excited to be joining the SV Feeder pattern for this school year. I am quickly witnessing how technology has evolved since I left NEISD, and am looking forward to working with the students and teachers of the same district which my own girls attend. Brooke is a 2nd grader and Sierra is a Kindergartner at Indian Springs.

Marine Corps Marathon 2013
In my spare time, I love to run, nature watch, be outside with friends and family, watch movies, and bargain shop. In October of 2013, I was able to accomplish my goal of running my first marathon in Washington D.C., (AND...I beat Oprah!! :) which was an absolutely awesome and humbling experience. I also love reading, and though I don't have much time to read everything I'd like to, I love to get my hold on anything from which I can learn something new, like Pinterest and blogs.
